Clem and Martha PINE MICHEL

Clement A. MICHAEL 1865-1956
 Martha A. PINE MICHAEL 1868-1943

This is the house and shop as they look today.  Located in Ceylon, Wabash twp., Adams County, Indiana.  The family moved to Brown County, Indiana about 1913.  I don't know much about the property after they left Ceylon.  My grandmother and my mom both spoke of this being their home and shop.

Grandma's house

This is my maternal grandmother in front of her home.  She was born here and except for a few brief periods lived here for 99 years.  My sister, our cousins and I loved to go to grandma's house.  In the summer we spent many days and nights there. She had a big old barn to play in.  Sometimes we would hang a big tarp over the cloths line to make a tent and sleep outside. Her lane was  1/4 mile long and the snow would form huge drifts.  The whole family would pitch in and shovel the drifts out.  The entire family gathered there for holiday. She had big walnut and maple trees and there was always a cool breeze in her house even on the hottest summer days. What I wouldn't give for just one more day playing at GRANDMA'S HOUSE.

Kings Creek Baptist Church

First founded June 29, 1805.  The present building was built in 1849.  The church is the oldest Baptist church in the Western Baptist Association of Ohio and the oldest house of worship in the county.  The cemetery is one of the oldest in Champaign County, it opend in December 1819 and veterans of every American conflict from the American Revolution to the Vietman War are interred here.  Four generations of the CLINE AND ROMINE families are buried here.  Church records show a John KLINE joined the church in 1898.  This may well have been my grandpa CLINE. My Grandma "Annie CLINE was baptized by Pastor W. T. Bailey, on October, 28, 1906."  The church played a role in my ancestors from baptisms to funerals.  When my dad passed away we ask memorials go to this church.  The money was used for floral arrangements at the dedication of the Historical marker in 2005.
